Visa Ready? Essential Document Checklist for Indian Students

Double-check document translations: Official translations are required for documents in languages other than English or French.




1. Admission Documents


· University Acceptance Letter:

An official admission/offer letter from a recognized French institution stating the program, duration, and tuition fees.

o Pro Tip: Ensure the letter is signed and stamped by the institution.



2. Campus France NOC (No Objection Certificate)


· Obtain the NOC after completing the "Etudes en France" process through the Campus France portal.

o Complete the academic interview with Campus France.

o Pay the Campus France processing fee.




3. Valid Passport


· Original passport with:

o At least two blank pages.

o Validity for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay in France.

· Photocopies of all pages with visas, stamps, or relevant information.



4. Completed Visa Application Form


· Long-stay visa application form (download from France-Visas website).

o Ensure accuracy and consistency with other documents.



5. Recent Passport-Sized Photographs


· Two colored photos with:

o Dimensions: 35mm x 45mm.

o White background and matte finish.

o Clear face visibility.



6. Proof of Financial Means


You need to demonstrate sufficient funds for tuition and living expenses in France (approx. €615/month). Acceptable proofs include:


· Bank Statements: Recent 3–6 months of personal or sponsor’s bank statements.

· Affidavit of Financial Support (if funded by parents/guardians).

· Scholarship Letter (if applicable).

· Education Loan Sanction Letter: If funding your education via a loan.




7. Proof of Accommodation


· Booking confirmation of student housing (CROUS, private residence, or shared apartment).

· Temporary accommodation (hotel/Airbnb) is acceptable for initial days.




8. Proof of Tuition Fee Payment

· Receipt of tuition fee payment (partial or full).

· A letter from the institution mentioning deferred payment (if applicable).




9. Travel and Health Insurance


· Insurance covering a minimum of €30,000 for:

o Medical emergencies.

o Repatriation and evacuation.Pro Tip: Some French institutions provide student health insurance upon enrollment.



10. Travel Itinerary


· Confirmed one-way flight booking (not necessarily purchased but reserved).



11. Proof of Language Proficiency


Depending on the language of instruction:

· English Programs: IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge test results.

· French Programs: DELF/DALF or TCF test results.



12. Academic Records


· Degree certificates and mark sheets (10th, 12th, undergraduate).

· Transcripts (official copies).

· Letter of Recommendation (if required).



13. Statement of Purpose (SOP)


· A personal letter explaining:

o Why you chose the program and institution.

o Your future career plans.



14. Birth Certificate


· Original or certified copy translated into French (if required).



15. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)


· Obtainable from a local police station or the Passport Seva Kendra.



16. Biometrics


· To be provided during the visa appointment.



17. Other Supporting Documents


· Marriage Certificate: If your spouse is accompanying you.

· Previous Visa Details: Copies of any previously issued Schengen or other visas.
